About H. Marie

I privately say to you, old friend (unto you, really, I’m afraid), please accept from me this unpretentious bouquet of very early-blooming parentheses: ( ( ( ( ) ) ) ).
-J.D. Salinger “Seymour: An Introduction”

I am, among other things, a high school English teacher and the wife of a hospital chaplain.  My existence, in general, is not a difficult one to enjoy.  My job is hard but not as hard as I think it is.  On this earth I love humans best, although I think many of them are stupid and/or boring.

When I’m not entirely sick of education, I blog about that, and when I am, I blog about whatnot. Here I, as always, will try to keep you, old friend, relatively engaged in the progress of my life.

These four poems basically sum up my personality.  You can decide what exactly that means.

“Humanity i love you” by e.e. cummings
“Good Dog Nigel” by John Lennon
“A Song in the Front Yard” by Gwendolyn Brooks
“God’s Grandeur” by Gerard Manley Hopkins

  1. simply, that salinger quote is my favorite in all of literature.

thumbs up on GMH too. i went to a jesuit university and one of my teachers was a priest who had devoted his life to the study of Hopkins. can you imagine how happy that would have made him?
